In May of 2014, I was released from the Illinois Department of Corrections after serving eight years. It was behind these bars that I found my freedom, experienced grace, and most importantly, found who I was and my worth again...IN GOD. He took the shattered pieces of my life due to rape, years of domestic violence and living in fear and brought me to a place of hope in a hopeless environment. He used a prison to bring me to true freedom. And now He uses my story, whether through writing in my blog or speaking at events, to show others that no matter your past or what you have done, that God will meet you where you are at with open arms. It was when I hit rock bottom that I found my best friend had been there all along waiting with open arms for me to come home and my life has not been the same since I did.
Now, here I am, seventeen months later, amazed every day, more and more, at not only God's faithfulness, but His ability to use the most unexpected places, circumstances, and situations to reach someone. Then, how He can use that someone, who to some are undeserving and worthy, to be the instrument that His light and love shines through stronger than ever. This is my story....that God took what should have been the worst time in my life and turned it into the most amazing blessing that I thank Him for daily.
