From BOTH sides
of the bars...
My Story
Oscar Hammerstein
I know the world is filled with troubles and many injustices. But reality is as beautiful as it is ugly. I think it is just as important to sing about beautiful mornings as it is to talk about slums. I just couldn't write anything without hope in it.
May 1st, I was released from Logan Correctional Center after serving eight years. Having worked at a County jail as a correctional officer myself, wearing the title "inmate," was needless to say, quite the humbling experience.
I learned about life behind those bars. I learned of struggle and strength, brokenness and forgiveness, and I learned of true beauty.
This blog is to share some of my thoughts from both aspects. Not so much from a corrections aspect, but being "locked up" and now experiencing "real freedom" aspect...
I found my worth during my incarceration and I found out that beauty can be found in the ugliest of situations. So...these are my ramblings...feel free to ask questions or comment. My life is an open book...
